Lexia Early Reading® — Developmental ages 4-7
Lexia Basic Reading® — Developmental ages 6 to adult
Lexia Advanced Reading® — Older students ages 10-adult
For developmental age four to six. Lexia Early
Reading provides exposure to phonological principles and the alphabet, presented
in an engaging, age appropriate manner. Structured activities develop
phonological awareness and sound/symbol correspondence, essential for future
reading success. Non-distracting graphics encourage focused learning. Each
activity reinforces a specific reading skill; each builds in complexity.
Progress is tracked through detailed reports on screen or printed out. Level 1
reinforces the precursors to reading necessary for all pupils at any age.
Activities provide practice in rhyming, initial and final consonant sounds, word
segmenting, and sound blending, without requiring any knowledge of the alphabet.
Level 2 increases general letter knowledge, introduces basic sound-symbol
correspondence, and reinforces listening for beginning and ending sounds,
including blends.
For developmental age six to adult with age neutral
interface. Activities provide practice in decoding skills, early comprehension,
and keyboard skills. Activities reinforce word attack strategies necessary for
automatic word recognition. Exercises include one and two syllable words as well
as sentences and paragraphs to provide practice in applying word attack
strategies to contextual material. Level 1 reinforces beginning reading skills:
short vowels, constants, constant diagrams and constant blends in one-syllable
words. Level 2 reviews short vowels, reinforces sight vocabulary and introduces
long vowels with silent e in one and two syllable words. Level 3 reviews short
and long vowel (silent e) words and reinforces vowel -r and vowel combinations
in one and two syllable words.
For older pupils age ten to adult with age
appropriate interface. Provides exercises in decoding skills, comprehension, and
vocabulary extension. Activities provide practice in decoding skills,
comprehension, and reading unfamiliar vocabulary. Level 1 activities reinforce
word attack strategies for multisyllable words containing open and constant -le
syllables, and hard and soft c and g. Level 2 activities reinforce reading of
words containing Anglo Saxon prefixes and suffixes, recognition of Latin
prefixes and suffixes, and division of words into prefix, root and suffix.
Advanced decoding skills are strengthened through activities that reinforce
recognition of two to four syllable words containing special accent patterns.
